Watering over Easter: New planting in particular needs care now

Do you like the blog? Let us know.

The weather forecasts for this weekend indicate almost early summer temperatures. In many gardens, the planting or even the turf is freshly laid. Watering is very important, especially in the early stages when the roots are not yet deep in the ground. So here is a quick weekend gardening tip:

Brief overview of correct watering in the garden

  • Watering in the morning and evening is advantageous as the water does not evaporate due to the sun's rays.
  • Make sure that the entire soil is wet and not just watered superficially.
  • Water should be supplied directly at the root to facilitate direct absorption of the water and reduce water consumption.
  • Troughs and pots on terraces need a little more water, as the containers heat up more quickly and the water evaporates faster. A drainage hole in the pot also prevents waterlogging.
  • Rainwater is ideal for watering plants. The temperature is optimal and the water hardly changes the pH value of the soil.

An irrigation system is a good investment for automatic and resource-saving irrigation. A drip irrigation system provides each plant with the right amount of water. We currently recommend watering by hand due to the cold nights and possible frost. However, the irrigation systems can soon be put into operation. Our long-standing partner GardenTec has already equipped numerous gardens and terraces for this gardening season.

With this in mind, we wish you a happy Easter!
