Frequently asked questions about taster and apprenticeship as gardener:in

These are the most frequently asked questions about the apprenticeship as a gardener. Would you like to have more questions answered? Contact us, we will be happy to answer any further questions personally.

Is the taster mandatory for the application as a learner?

Yes, because that's how we get to know you and your skills. At the same time, you have a direct insight into the profession, which also makes your decision easier.

It is important to us that you enjoy your job and are motivated, which is why 5 days of taster sessions are a prerequisite for your application. This also includes trial days at other companies.

What do I need to take with me at the taster?

Dress for the weather, which means remembering your rain jacket or putting on some good sunscreen.

Choose suitable footwear with a good tread, which may also get dirty, such as hiking boots. Do you even have safety shoes, that's even better!

You spend the whole day in the team. Therefore, bring your lunch and snack with you. In the morning the break lasts from 9-9.30 am and at noon from 12-13 pm.

Don't forget: You are working physically. Therefore, bring enough liquid in a beverage bottle.

How long does a working day last?

Our work depends on the weather. While we start at 6.30 am in summer, we start at 7.30 am in winter. Departure from the construction site is usually at 5.15 pm. On Fridays we already finish at 4 pm.

Of course, we will inform you exactly about the times before you start your trial apprenticeship with us.

How long does the apprenticeship last?

The apprenticeship to become a gardener with a federal certificate of proficiency (EFZ) lasts 3 years. The apprenticeship to become a gardener with a federal certificate of proficiency (EBA) lasts 2 years.

What prospects do I have after the apprenticeship?

After your apprenticeship, you will have a wide range of knowledge and will be familiar with the different types of work as a gardener. With us you can pursue your passion, whether in new construction, pool construction or maintenance.

We will also be happy to support you in your further career as a foreman, foreman or foreman. You also have the opportunity to continue your education during your employment with us. At Jardin Suisse you will find all training and further education courses in the green industry.

Can I stay in the egli jona team after my apprenticeship?

There is the possibility to remain part of the team after the successfully completed apprenticeship. We are always happy to welcome talented young people from within the company.

How can I apply for a job at egli jona?

It is important to us that you enjoy your job and are happy to help out. That's why we're happy to accept your application after a five-day trial apprenticeship. During these five days, we can better assess your skills and know whether you would be a good fit for us - regardless of your grades.

In addition, we need a CV, a letter of motivation and a current school report. In the motivation letter you can answer the following questions:

  • Why do you want to become a gardener?
  • Why do you want to do your apprenticeship with us?
What grades do I need for an apprenticeship as a landscape gardener?

It's more important to us that you enjoy your job, that you think for yourself and that you can get stuck in. That's why your grades are not important. But you can prove yourself during a five-day trial apprenticeship before you apply for the apprenticeship. We are looking forward to meeting you!

In which school will I be trained?

Usually you will be trained in Wetzikon. However, depending on where you live, you may also go to Rorschach.

Who will I be supervised by?

Our vocational trainer Stefan Fiorili will support you throughout your apprenticeship. In addition, you will be accompanied and trained by the foremen on the construction sites and in the gardens. You can look forward to good support with varied work!

How often do I visit the school?

You attend school for one day a week and learn all the theoretical basics for the job.

In addition, you regularly attend inter-company courses (ÜK), which take place about two to four times a year.
