The historic castle Rapperswil: It is enthroned on a hill above Lake Zurich and is a striking landmark of the city. The castle was built in the 13th century and has an eventful history.Ā
On our current construction site at Rapperswil Castle, we are redesigning the historic inner courtyards to further enhance this important location. The large inner courtyard, a central location for numerous events such as concerts and weddings, will be protected by an elegant roof in future and can therefore be used regardless of the weather. The sandstone paving gives the courtyard a timeless character. This extends from the main gate to the small archway and creates a harmonious connection between the different areas.
Cubic sandstone elements that fulfil functional aspects are placed along the edges of the inner courtyard. One of these elements is used as a counter, another serves as a seating element and a water feature is integrated into the third. These modern accents blend harmoniously into the historical ambience of the castle and offer visitors a special added value.
The small inner courtyard, which was previously rather overgrown and overgrown, will become a park-like insider tip for visitors to the castle. Curved paths lined with clipped hedges will be created here. This area will be connected to the large inner courtyard by a small gate. The newly planted hedges and trees create a green oasis that emphasises the historic character of the castle.
