The theory was followed by practice on the plane trees in Kempraten
It is not always possible to prune trees with just a ladder. In addition to the use of telescopic tools, the work process can also be made possible by climbing. Working safely is particularly important with tall trees. At the end of 2019, four of our maintenance gardeners therefore attended a course to learn how to work safely on trees. In addition to recognising risks, they learnt how to use the equipment correctly. Thanks to the training, they can now carry out maintenance work on large trees more efficiently and, above all, safely.
Plane trees are popular sources of shade and can be found in many places here in the region. In autumn, the plane trees lose their leaves and are ready for winter pruning. These popular trees are also used to provide shade for parked cars in the car park at Kempraten station. The plane trees are very tall and not all areas can be reached with a ladder. Our maintenance team has already been able to apply the knowledge it has learnt here and remove the shoots while correctly secured. With the climbing equipment, the work was carried out in beautiful weather and with a wonderful view of Lake Zurich and Rapperswil Castle.
