This garden is one of the 50 most beautiful private gardens from all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It was awarded the "Gardens of the Year 2022" award by Callwey Verlag.
After the redesign, this single-family garden offers a harmonious swimming paradise in a natural environment. The natural pool, which is cleaned without chemicals using the proven Living Pool technology, stands in the center of the garden and is framed by lush and natural planting.

Harmonious bathing oasis with cozy places
The focal point of the garden is the newly built natural pool with its impressive blue color. The naturally cleaned pool provides bathing fun without chemicals, while two attractive waterfall spouts create a gentle and soothing splash. The wooden pool surround frames the pool and is suitable for lounging and sitting by the water. The generous wooden deck also leaves plenty of room for sunbathing and a comfortable spot with table, chairs and umbrella right by the pool.
An existing magnolia tree on the side of the garden was preserved and provides pleasant shade. The existing walls of exposed concrete, which frame the garden in a simple way, were perfectly incorporated into the garden through planting. The lush and loose planting around the pool soften the straight lines and connect the architecture with nature. Three trellis trees were used to conceal one side of the wall and blend in with the trees on the property next door.
The garden before and after the redesign
Shade for cozy hours by the natural pool
The wooden deck was also continued under the existing roofing at the corner of the house. From this dining area you keep the pool and the rest of the garden in view and spend cozy hours in a harmonious atmosphere. The shrub roses here provide color and soften the straight lines.
For particularly hot days, the far corner on the other side of the garden offers a cozy shaded spot. The path leading to the shaded area is taken over by attractive natural stone slabs next to the pool, which come into their own especially after the meadow has been cut. From here you can see two beautiful ironwood trees with their clear trunks rising into the sky from the lush shrubs and grasses.
Natural habitat for animals
Proximity to nature is particularly important to the building owner. In the planting, therefore, particular emphasis was placed on a naturalistic and varied selection of plants that provide a natural habitat for animals. Woody and flowering shrubs as well as fruit trees and berry bushes attract numerous bees and butterflies, while the flower meadow on the side of the garden also provides a home for many other insects. For this reason, the developer also refrains from cutting the meadow until the end of June. The contrast between the wild flower meadow and the pool area with clean lines is an absolute highlight.
Colorful accents in the water garden
The varied planting of woody, flowering and berry bushes as well as flowering perennials and fruit trees provides a natural habitat for animals and insects and creates interesting and colorful accents in individual places. The existing rose bed in the center of the flower meadow was left in place and provides a colorful eye-catcher. A lush rose bush is also a special highlight during the summer months at the covered seating area by the house. Around the pool, the planting of grasses and flowering perennials also emphasizes the love of nature. Colorful flowers alternate with grasses and provide interesting eye-catchers. The love of nature is particularly well felt in this green oasis
