The new Sonnenbühl residential development has been built in the centre of Jona. egli jona was responsible for creating the surroundings with all the green and hard surfaces as well as the varied and natural planting.
The modern blocks are located on St. Gallerstrasse. The completely redesigned development gives the neighbourhood a lively and urban look. The two five-storey buildings together form an attractive courtyard with a large gravelled area that serves as a car-free meeting and play zone. The courtyard thus takes on the role of a central place to spend time. The paved areas in front of the building facing St. Gallerstrasse in Jona are made of new asphalt. The entrances to the building were ground with mastic asphalt.
Inviting environmental design
The inner courtyard boasts a large playground equipped with a sandpit, swings and slide. Many children are already romping around in the playground and enjoying the new play equipment. There is also plenty of peace and quiet, as there are several wooden benches on the sides of the courtyard. This transforms the courtyard into a meeting place for neighbours.
The planting has just taken place and the first perennials and shrubs are already growing. Thanks to the varied planting, the courtyard has a colourful appearance. Not only has the inner courtyard been adorned with a variety of plants, but new tall trees have also been planted along St. Gallerstrasse. The solitary trees give the residential neighbourhood a fresh, natural greenery, provide visual connections and create a sense of space in the open air.
