Every day we work in nature, with nature. Our gardens are alive and invite you to linger. We bring the green back to the front door.
Together with the Nature conservation organisation Rapperswil-Jona ānature!ā we are bringing wildflower meadows back into the city. Wildflower meadows provide a habitat for a variety of insects and thus actively promote biodiversity.
As a Christmas present, we are providing the natur! association with around CHF 20,000 in the form of labour and materials to create two wildflower areas totalling 2,000 m2.
These wildflower meadows are made possible thanks to the cooperation of all customers and business partners. They all contribute to bringing a piece of nature to Rapperswil-Jona. We would like to thank you for this and wish you all a happy festive season.
Area A: Holzwies
The existing turf was stripped and removed. A wildflower seed mixture was sown on the cleared area. In addition, a gravel pile of boulders and tree remains provides an ideal habitat for lizards and other small animals.
Area B: Schachen
Here, too, the ruderal area with broken moraine gravel and an old tree stump is being turned into a small animal villa. Two 4Ć25 metre strips of grass were cut and sown with wildflowers.
