Garden tip: Why garden planning is always worthwhile

Many people dream of an impressive garden that satisfies all their needs. But where do you start with the planning and what counts? In the following article, we explain step by step how garden planning with a pool works.

What really counts when planning the outdoor space

The benefits of good planning become apparent in the course of implementation. It is therefore worth investing in garden planning before the start of implementation. "Proper planning means cost certainty," says Daniel Egli, our Managing Director. However, it is not only the costs that are described in detail in the planning, but also the implementation. Concept plans, detailed views and planting plans create clarity for the landscaper on site. "The calculation is actually quite simple: if a smaller team of two people has an extra day's work due to inaccurate plans, the cost of rectifying the error is already very high," says Egli.

The initial investment in garden planning ensures a smooth and correspondingly efficient process on the construction site. A change during the planning phase involves less effort than during the implementation phase. As soon as all the details have been clarified, a planning application is submitted to the local authority. The type of approval, whether in the ordinary or notification procedure, has an influence on the processing time. This can vary by several weeks. This makes it all the more important to start planning the garden at an early stage.

The importance of a trusting relationship

When choosing a landscape designer, the chemistry must be right. Together you create your own personal living space. The basis for this is a trusting relationship with room for constructive exchange and creative discussions. This requires an interpersonal feel for the other person, even without a detailed description of the wishes. The messages are filtered out and the landscape architect puts them on paper.

Once the garden planning has been completed, the construction phase begins. At this point, there is a building site in your own garden or on the patio. This again shows why a trusting relationship with professional planning is so important. A professional contact person will keep you regularly informed about the status and accompany you through the construction phase. During this phase, you will continue to be involved in decisions such as the exact positioning of a tree. Important dates and major events, such as the delivery of the pool, are communicated at an early stage. Reliable communication and regular exchanges are therefore essential for the success of your project.

The importance of long-term garden planning

A garden grows with us. The well-thought-out planning also takes into account your wishes regarding further care. The planting list therefore includes not only visual requirements, but also maintenance requirements. In addition, needs change over time, especially for families with children. Such considerations can be addressed during the initial consultation and taken into account during the planning phase. A future-oriented consideration points to professional garden planning.

The planning process for a garden with pool in brief

Here we have summarized the entire planning process in a nutshell.

Step 1: Initial consultation and basics

We discuss your wishes, needs, different options and budget together. These discussions form the basis for the subsequent planning. If the customer agrees, an inventory is carried out.

Step 2: Preliminary project

Initial concepts are drawn up, reference images are collected and a cost estimate is made. If desired, detailed 3D visualizations of the future garden can be created.

Step 3: Planning phase

This is where it gets more detailed. Technical details are compiled in a project plan. The planting list is drawn up, large trees are selected together and materials are chosen. The building application is also prepared and submitted

Step 4: Building application

If a swimming pool is planned, a building permit is always required. Depending on the location, this process can take between one and four months.

Step 5: Work preparation

The individual components such as material procurement, personnel planning and deliveries are worked out so that a smooth process can be guaranteed.

Step 6: Realization

Continuous quality assurance is key during the construction phase. During the redesign, the construction management team is in regular contact with the client. They also check that the execution is in line with the concept.

Step 7: Handover

Once the landscaping work is complete, the outdoor area becomes part of the living room. Young plants need time to take root. This is why watering is particularly important in the first year. These and other individual care instructions are handed over to the customer in a suitable form.
